Description

Dear PhD fellows at the Faculty of Social Sciences, The University Library of Oslo is offering courses Data management and Introduction to literature search 10th of May. The courses will be run as a part of the University library's courses specially designed for PhD fellows.

Plan for the day:

10:00-10:15  Welcome to the University of Oslo Library. Introduction to the library services for researchers

by Marianne Inez Lien, academic librarian and sociologist at the Library of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Oslo Library.

10:15 - 12:00  Introduction to literature search and databases in social sciences

by head librarians Johanne Longva and Glenn Karlsen Bjerkenes, department of systematic literature search, Library of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Oslo Library.

As a PhD candidate, you are expected to place your work in the context of current research. In this course you will learn about different types of literature searches and their purpose and more about the various academic databases in social sciences.

13:15-15:00 Introduction to data management

by Agata Bochynska, senior academic librarian at Open Research group and Digital Scholarship Center, University of Oslo Library.

In the course, we will address important questions about data management and provide an overview of the basics of research data management for PhD students in social sciences following the life cycle of a PhD project. We will also have question and answer sessions where you will get the opportunity to ask questions specific to your research project.

PhD candidates at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Oslo.

The course will be run as a part of data management and literature search courses for the PhD candidates at the Faculty of Social Sciences. The course is delivered by the University of Oslo Library.
